The SNZB-04P is a Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 door and window sensor, a compact smart home device using the Zigbee protocol that communicates through a Zigbee gateway to control other devices. Its small size allows for discreet installation on doors or windows. It features smoother, rounded lines, a larger capacity battery, and Zigbee 3.0 compatibility compared to its predecessor, the SNZB-04.

For instance, when communicating via a Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro, it transmits data to the eWeLink cloud, enabling the control of other Sonoff or SmartWise WiFi and eWeLink devices. Thanks to the Zigbee 3.0 standard, the SNZB-04P can also be used with other Zigbee gateways (always check the gateway device support list for full compatibility).

What is Zigbee?

Most Sonoff products use Wi-Fi and RF as communication modes, which allow for cost-effective devices compared to other smart home technologies, but they are not specifically IoT standards.

In contrast, Zigbee is ideal for low-power devices where there is no large data transmission but minimal latency is important. Zigbee is a good choice for battery-powered sensors or remote controls, where Zigbee's operating time is much longer compared to Wi-Fi. Zigbee sensors cannot be used on their own; a Zigbee gateway is required to connect them to your home/office network.

Due to the nature of Zigbee technology, pairing with Zigbee devices is a quick process, much faster than Wi-Fi pairing.
